Cooperative Associations & Interest Groups

This sub-sub-indicator assesses the extent to which there is a network of cooperative associations or interest groups to mediate between society and the political system. It assesses the spectrum of interest groups, ranging from social movements and community organisations to unions and professional associations, the capacity to incorporate all (competing) social interests and to avoid the dominance of few strong interests and the degree of cooperation between different interest groups.
