2024 data update

This website has been refreshed with data from 2014-2023. You can access the 2024 Index Report and key findings from the downloads page, along with other useful documents.

Correlations

Correlation is a statistical measure that reveals the extent to which two variables are associated. The correlation chart allows comparison of exactly two measures and if selected enables a list of external data points in the measure menu. The chart will always plot data for all African countries.

Drivers of change

In Table view, it is now possible to view drivers of change, giving a breakdown of the underlying measures driving (and opposing) any change over a set time period.

Raw data

In Table View, it is now possible to view raw data scores from the source providers. Choose this option in the Advanced section. Raw data scores are mostly available below indicator level.

2022 data launch

This website has been refreshed with data from 2012-2021. It has also been translated into French, Portuguese and Arabic.

Bar chart

A new chart type - Bar graph - has been added to allow users to view scores in this way. Once the Graph view has been selected, the option to view Scores as either Line graph or Bar graph will be available. This can then be sorted by various options in the Advanced panel.

Sharing & searching

Updates to the sharing feature include ability to download a csv of table views, adding share by email, and an embed feature allowing users to add a view from the portal to their own website.

Also new is a search feature for the measure menu. Type in any word or part word and measures that match will be highlighted to make them easier to find.

Info pages

An overview of each country and measure can now be accessed through the top menu.

Choose the location or measure you would like to learn more about from the menu, and you can access details and charts giving a top-line snapshot for the latest data year.
