Absence of Household Air Pollution

Measures > OVERALL GOVERNANCE > HUMAN DEVELOPMENT > SUSTAINABLE ENVIRONMENT > Air Quality > Absence of Household Air Pollution

This sub-indicator measures the ratio of disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs) to the population per 100,000 people due to household air pollution. Household air pollution is a mixture of particles and gases resulting from incomplete combustion of fuels used in the home for heating and cooking. This focuses on use of solid fuels (coal, wood, charcoal, dung, peat). In many places, household air pollution is also a key contributor to ambient air pollution, potentially affecting public health more broadly on national and regional spatial scales.
