Private Property Rights

This sub-indicator assesses the extent to which property rights for the people are guaranteed. This is based on the following criteria: the likelihood that homeowners will receive full compensation from government at fair market value; the likelihood that if homeowners sue the government seeking compensation for the demolition of their homes they will receive fair compensation; the extent to which farmers receive adequate compensation for expropriated rural land; the extent to which in the event of unfair compensation homeowners would resign themselves to losing the money.
