Free & Fair Executive Elections
This sub-sub-indicator assesses the extent to which executive elections are free and fair, including the extent to which the opposition was able to participate in an election. Pre-election, campaign, election day and post-election electoral procedures are all evaluated. Levels of intimidation and violence, allowance or restriction of demonstrations, freedom of access to information, opposition party participation or boycotts, the losing party’s acceptance of results and turnover of power are also taken into consideration.
