Right To Privacy
This sub-indicator assesses the extent to which freedom from arbitrary interference with privacy is effectively guaranteed. This is based on the following criteria: the extent to which government agents are likely to intercept (wiretap) private telephone or electronic communications of regular citizens, or political opponents without judicial authorisation; a political dissident is likely to be taken from their home to a detention centre without any warrant of arrest; a political dissident is likely to have their house searched by the police without a warrant.
